Atlanta Braves -- Sold the contract of C Francisco Cabrera to the Orix Blue Wave of the Japanese Pacific League.

Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with OF Glenallen Hill on a one-year contract.

Cincinnati Reds -- Agreed to terms with P Ken Patterson and IF Lenny Harris on one-year contracts. Agreed to terms with IF Casey Candaele, IF Kurt Stillwell and C Steve Lake on minor-league contracts and invited them to spring training as non-roster players. Waived P Chris Bushing.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Claimed OF Turner Ward off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Minnesota Twins -- Agreed to terms with OF Shane Mack on a one-year contract. Traded P Willie Banks to the Chicago Cubs for P Dave Stevens and C Matt Walbeck.

Montreal Expos -- Assigned P Mike Mathile, P Butch Henry, IF Oreste Marrero and IF Derrick White to Triple-A Ottawa.
