Two men, believed to be a part of a group that has been robbing homes in the northern section of Carroll County, were arrested and charged yesterday with several counts of breaking and entering, malicious destruction of property and theft.

State police said they received information after an article appeared in The Sun alerting residents to be on the lookout for people and vehicles unknown in the area between Westminster and Taneytown and north to the Pennsylvania line.

Investigators obtained search and seizure warrants for a house and a car in the 4000 block of Arters Mill Road, north of Westminster, and arrested Robert John Stevenson 3rd, 21, of that address.

He was charged with possession of drugs and the burglary counts after several items, believed stolen in one of the break-ins, were recovered, police said.

Officers also arrested Bradley Albert Mazelofsky, 37, of Littlestown, Pa., after the police recovered several articles stolen in one of the Carroll residential burglaries.

Mr. Mazelofsky was taken into custody in Kingsdale, Pa., and waived extradition to Maryland.

He was returned to Westminster by state police and was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

Police said they are searching for several additional men believed to have been involved in the burglaries.

They are alerting residents to secure their homes and continue to be aware of suspicious people and vehicles in their neighborhoods.

Anyone with information about the break-ins or suspicious people should notify the state police at 848-3111.
