More police to patrol at shopping malls

November 24, 1993

More police will patrol the county's malls and shopping centers this holiday season "to make shoppers feel safer," Baltimore County Executive Roger B. Hayden said yesterday.

The county will add about two patrol cars to each of its nine police precincts, specifically to patrol mall and shopping center parking lots. Auxiliary officers also will help, Mr. Hayden said.

Two county malls -- Towson Town Center and Security Square -- are taking advantage of a program announced in April, in which off-duty county police officers can wear their uniforms and carry their police radios while guarding malls.
