Bwi Advisory

November 24, 1993

With more than 175,000 passengers expected to use Baltimore-Washington International Airport during the Thanksgiving holidays, travelers are being encouraged to use ground transportation instead of driving to BWI.

Passengers can commute via MARC and Amtrak trains to the BWI Rail Station and take a free shuttle bus to the airport. For shuttle schedules, call (410) 672-6167.

In addition, MTA buses provide service between the airport and four light rail stations: North Linthicum, Linthicum, Nursery Road and Cromwell. Call 539-5000 or (800) 543-9809.

BWI is also promoting bus service from 15th and K streets in downtown Washington, and door-to-door limo service in Prince George's and Montgomery counties. Call (301) 441-2345.

Other information about ground transportation to and from BWI is available by calling the airport at (410) 859-7545.

For those driving to the airport, BWI has 11,000 parking spaces available, including the least expensive 5,000 slots at the Satellite lots. The airport offers Express Service Parking, which takes passengers from their cars to the terminal.

Airport officials said most of American Airline's 20 daily flights from BWI are expected to be operating today. A strike by American flight attendants, which had disrupted travel for five days, ended Monday.
