The state Department of Natural Resources public information office yesterday was flooded with telephone calls from fishermen who thought the Chesapeake Bay season for rockfish had been extended.
To clarify the schedule that ran in The Sun on Sunday: The recreational and charter-boat seasons for rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries closed Sunday.
The recreational and charter-boat coastal season, in Maryland's waters of the Atlantic Ocean and its bays and tributaries -- exclusive of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries -- runs through Nov. 30. The minimum length during the coastal season is 28 inches and the creel limit is one per day.
