Woman, 23, killed in two-car crash

A 23-year-old woman was killed Saturday afternoon when her car was hit broadside by another car at Quarterfield Road and Route 97, police reported.

Jolene Dawn Sobolewski of the 500 block of Newberry Court in Joppa was trying to make a left turn from Quarterfield Road onto the Route 97 entrance ramp at 12:41 p.m. when a 1992 Cutlass hit her 1993 Eagle Talon.

The driver of the Cutlass, Payton Valentio Poynter, 32, of the 6400 block of Roots Drive in Glen Burnie was taken to North Arundel Hospital and treated for minor injuries, the police report said.

Ms. Sobolewski was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 2:25 p.m.

Police did not charge Mr. Poynter. The case has been forwarded to the state's attorney's office for review.
