1.Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke attended the recent grand opening by Richmond American Homes at Homeland At East Village, where the company is completing a project started by another builder.

Richmond is building three different garage townhomes in the secured community, which is surrounded by a guardhouse and iron and chain-link fence. Richmond's 66 homes will complete the 120-home community.

Other standard features are two or three bedrooms, two full baths and one half-bath, fireplace in living room, smoke detector and sprinkler system, laundry room, front porch, one-car garage and unfinished basement with rough-in for optional powder room.

Also included in the base price are six-panel interior doors, walk-in master bedroom closet with "organizer shelves," gas heat and hot water, electric air conditioning and cooking, insulated vinyl windows and prewiring for cable TV and telephones.

Prices range from $133,900 for the 1,560-square-foot Chelsea to $139,900 for the 1,735-square-foot Kendall.

2.JSG Home Builders has opened a sales trailer at Longfield Estates, where the company is offering custom homes on 1- to 6-acre lots from $300,000 to $500,000. The houses range from 3,000 to 5,000 square feet.

Standard features include four to five bedrooms, fireplace, U-shaped kitchen with a work island and breakfast room, 8-by-8-foot first-floor laundry room, a split stairwell that leads to the kitchen or foyer, Andersen windows, a brick front, first-floor study and a 24-by-24-foot two-car garage.

While a model is under construction, buyers can visit a completed home nearby.

Located in Kingsville in Baltimore County, Longfield Estates has two fishing ponds, which will be stocked by the developer.

Other standard features include an open foyer with hardwood floor, a sunken family room, a fireplace and a kitchen featuring Jenn-Air brand appliances.

The Severn can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Take Interstate 95 North to Route 24 (Exit 77B). Make right on Singer Road and a right on Trallis Lane.
