Boys Runner of the Year

* Kevin Hill, Centennial, Sr. -- County champ (16 minutes, 37 seconds); Class 3A East Region champ (16:59); fourth in state Class 3A championship (16:11); sixth-best time overall at states; won both county quad meets; won the Griffin and Lancer invitationals; second in Westminster, Arundel and Meade invitationals; fifth at Howard County Invitational (16:57); a transfer from Philadelphia.

Boys First Team

* Greg Curtis, Oakland Mills, Jr. -- Second at county championships (16:39); won Class 2A South Region championship (17:07); fourth at state championships (16:32); second at Howard County Invitational (16:37); won Harford Invitational; won one quad meet; third at Westminster Invitational; third at Arundel Invitational; All-County last season.

* Kris Edwards, Glenelg, Sr. -- Sixth at county championships (17:08); fifth at Class 2A South regional championships (17:52); ninth at state championships (16:53); second at Brunswick Invitational; won one quad meet in personal-best time (16:34) of season.

* Faisal Hasan, Wilde Lake, Soph. -- Fourth at county championships (17:01); won Class 1A Central Region championship (17:32); sixth at state championships (16:54).

* Steve Olenick, Centennial, Sr. -- Seventh at county championships (17:11); third at Class 3A East regional championships (17:20); 17th at state championships (16:59); 11th at Howard County Invitational (17:21); All-County last season.

* Mike Strickland, Atholton, Sr. -- Fifth at county championships (17:02); third at Class 2A South regional championships (17:33); 12th at state championships (16:57); 10th at Howard County Invitational (17:21).

* Bobby Van Allen, Centennial, Sr. -- Third at county championships (16:56); second at Class 3A East regional championships (17:18); eighth at state championships (16:36); third at Howard County, Arundel, Lancer and Meade invitationals; fifth at Westminster Invitational; sixth at Griffin Invitational; All-County last season.

Girls Runner of the Year

* Alicia Adams, Glenelg, Sr. -- Three-time county champ (19:16); Class 2A South Region champ (20:05); second at state meet (19:10); third at Howard

County Invitational (20:00); second at Westminster and Brunswick invitationals; won both quad meets and set Glenelg course record of 18:42; The Baltimore Sun's 1992 Howard County Runner of the Year; All-County and All-Metro since freshman season.

Girls First Team

* Amanda Beckenstein, Oakland Mills, Sr. -- Fourth at county championships (20:16); fourth at Class 2A South regional championships (21:14); 11th at state championships (20:38); 12th at Howard County Invitational (21:30); seventh at Harford Invitational; won one quad meet.

* Lauren Drake, Oakland Mills, Fresh. -- Sixth at county championships (20:36); third at Class 2A South regional championships (21:08); eighth at state championships (20:16); 13th at Howard County Invitational (21:31).

* Amanda Fleck, Mount Hebron, Jr. -- Seventh at county championships (20:54) ; second at Class 3A East regional championships (21:22); 15th at state championships (20:37); fourth at Arundel Invitational; 21st at Howard County Invitational.

* Jeanine Lee, Centennial, Sr. -- Fifth at county championships (20:26); third at Class 3A East regional championships (21:27); 23rd at state championships (21:04); 14th at Howard County Invitational (21:42).

* Kari Meyer, Centennial, Soph. -- Third at county championships (19:49); won Class 3A East regional championship (20:59); seventh at state championships (19:48); seventh at Howard County Invitational (20:38); won Meade Invitational; third at Lancer, Arundel and Westminster invitationals; All-County and All-Metro last season.

* Dana Strickland, Atholton, Soph. -- Second at county championships (19:42); second at Class 2A South regional championships (20:31); third at state championships (19:36); won Arundel Invitational; third at Westminster Invitational; fifth at Lancer and Howard County invitationals; All-County and All-Metro last season.

Coach of the Year

* Al Dodds, Centennial -- His boys team won its first state championship since 1980, beating out runner-up C. Milton Wright for the 3A title, 79-95. The boys also won the East Region title and county title. His girls team finished a surprising third in the 3A state meet with 92 points behind Linganore (70) and Walter Johnson (90). The fifth-year coach was also Coach of the Year last season, after the girls team won its first county title and the boys team its first county title since 1980. The 45-year-old physical education teacher played football and twice qualified for nationals in the decathlon while attending Towson State University. A former Eagles wrestling coach for four seasons, one

of his wrestling teams also won a state title.
