Terps edge Hungarians, 81-75 State women

COLLEGE PARK -- The 23rd-ranked Maryland women's basketball team defeated a touring club team from Sopron, Hungary, 81-75, last night in an exhibition at Cole Field House.

The Terps, who trailed 37-36 at halftime, opened a nine-point lead early in the second half, only to see Sopron tie the score at 64 with seven minutes left.

However, senior forward Michele Andrew, who had 21 points, capped a decisive 7-0 run with a three-pointer with 5:46 remaining to spark the Maryland win.

Senior forward Bonnie Rimkus led Maryland with 27 points and 10 rebounds, and senior center Monica Adams had 19 points.

Senior Jenna Hausvik had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Navy past Dynamo/Red Army in an exhibition game at Alumni Hall.

Freshman Adria Schneck added 15 points and freshman Kim Jackson 12 for Navy.
