A 28-year-old Elkridge woman escaped serious injury Monday morning when she was pushed and attacked by a knife-wielding man as she got into her car.
The victim was pushed from behind into the car's side window about 11:43 a.m. outside her Athol Avenue home. The man then tore the woman's blouse and cut her bra with a knife.
Police said the woman kicked the suspect and was able to run back inside her home and call police as the man ran away.
The woman was taken to Howard County General, where she was treated for a bruise to the head.
The assailant was described only as a male with gloves carrying a large knife.

Woman, 72, attacked at shopping center
A 72-year-old Sykesville woman was shoved to the ground and robbed of her purse as she left an Ellicott City Shopping Center late Monday night.
At 11:40 p.m., the victim was walking in the Enchanted Forest Shopping Center's parking lot in the 10000 block of Baltimore National Pike when a man grabbed her purse and began to run, police said.
When the woman resisted, the man pushed her to the ground. He fled with the purse, which contained credit cards and $90 in cash, police said.
Police said the woman, who was not injured, could only describe the man as wearing dark pants and shoes because she was attacked from behind.
Elkridge man found after day-long search
A 41-year-old Elkridge man was found yesterday afternoon near Patapsco Valley State Park, ending a day-long search that included a state police helicopter, park rangers and a search team of dogs.
The man, who was in a semi-conscious state, was taken to Howard County General for a check-up, county police said. The man had been reported missing since 5 p.m. Sunday evening, when his wife told police he drove away from home. The woman told police that her husband had been drinking heavily over the weekend and took prescribed medication with him when he left.
Early yesterday morning police found the man's 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix on Norris Lane in the state park, a half-mile from his home.
A bloodhound from the Prince George's County Police Department was sent through the woods around 5 p.m. By 5:15 p.m. rescuers found the man a short distance from his car.
Ellicott City girl takes part in program
Mount de Sales Academy senior Rachael Lancelotta participated in the Baltimore County Government Awareness Program at county government headquarters in Towson recently.
Rachael, an Ellicott City resident, was among 10 Mount de Sales Academy students in the week-long program. Among their activities were a visit to the 911 communications center, observing a trial, and visits to county offices for substance abuse, children, health, environmental protection, recycling, recreation and parks.
The students talked with public defenders, state's attorneys and judges.
The purpose of this program is to stimulate students' interest in government and to help them learn more about its operations.

* Jessup: 7300 block of Route 1: The door to a telephone room at Imprinted Sportswear was pried open between Nov. 9 and Thursday, police said.
* Elkridge: 6200 block of Route 1: A man said he woke up in his motel room early Saturday morning and found his clothes, his car keys, his car and the women he was with the night before gone. The stolen car was a 1988 Volvo 240 with Virginia tags W439116.
6200 block of Summer Home Terrace: Someone entered the rear window of a home under construction and stole appliances Thursday or Friday.
5900 block of Hunt Club Road: A lock was cut from a shed Friday or Saturday, but nothing was taken.
