Principals plan seminars for parents

Principals from the North County Feeder System will sponsor a "Parent Awareness Night" from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow at North County High School, 10 East First Ave.

The seminars will include homework, assertive discipline, communication skills and behavior management.

Representatives of the pupil services staff will explain the county's policy on sexual harassment and child abuse.

Parent Visitation Day is planned for tomorrow at county public schools. For more information, call your local school.

Belle Grove Elementary School news: The PTA will have its Parent-Teacher Conference Bake Sale from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 22 and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 in the school lobby. Volunteers are needed to bake desserts and staff the bake tables.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: It's book fair time! Classes will be attending the book fair today or tomorrow. Schedules have been sent home with the students.

The book fair also will be open before the PTA meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be in the cafeteria.

Park Elementary School news: A luncheon has been planned for Friday to honor the first- through sixth-graders who have made the honor roll, have been named a "good citizen" or have missed fewer than two days of school.

* The PTA is accepting reservations from artisans for the school craft fair, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 12. Spaces are available for $10.

North County High School news: The band parents will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the band room. All interested parents are invited to attend.

* Orders for oranges, grapefruits or poinsettias are due by Wednesday. Call a band member or call the school at 859-5400.

The Arundel Improvement Association will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday. Members will elect new officers. The nominees are Frances Jones, president; Douglas Cash, vice president; Marlene Heinbuch, treasurer; and Helen Cashen, secretary.

For the Board of Governors, the nominees are Edward Bryl, Carol Ege, Roxie Ege, Vernon Heinbuch, Elmer Jones, Ralph Secoura and Catherine Schnieder. Nominees must have attended at least three meetings within the past year.

The association hall is at 705 Cross St.

The Brooklyn Park Health Association, 300 Hammonds Lane, will accept membership renewals for 1994 at its meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday. The cost is $2 a person.

A limited number of flu shots will be available from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23. Membership renewals also will be accepted.

Harbor Hospital Center news: The center's LifeCourse Program is offering a brochure, "When to Call the Doctor for Infants and Children," which provides advice on home treatment and when to call a doctor. The brochure also contains information about a variety of childhood ailments including abdominal pain, cuts and scrapes, diarrhea, fevers, insect bites and nasal congestion.

The center also is offering "A Women's Guide to a Healthy Heart," "Dealing with Stress" and "What You Need to Know About Your Pap Exam."
