25 Years Ago (Week of Nov. 3-9, 1968):

* Plans for Howard Community College's first building were approved by the college Board of Trustees.

* The Federal Aviation Administration announced that Howard County was one of nine Maryland sites under consideration for future airports. This announcement came three weeks after the county commissioners had assured residents that the county had no intention of following up on a recommendation of the Airport Study Commission for a publicly owned airport in the county.

50 Years Ago (Week of Nov. 7-13, 1943):

* Rivers and streams throughout the county reached their highest levels in more than 10 years as the result of an extremely heavy downpour during a 2 1/2 -hour period.
