MODELS OPEN

River Downs

1. Ashley Custom Homes began construction at the beginning of the month at River Downs in Finksburg, where 150 homes will be built on 500 acres in Carroll County.

River Downs will have an 18-hole golf course designed by Arthur Hills and Associates of Ohio. Some fairway lots are available.

In addition to Ashley, River Downs buyers can choose custom homes by Shelley Custom Homes or Talles Homes.

The Ashley home currently under construction at River Downs is the 3,000-square-foot Easton, which has a 22-by-14-foot first-floor master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and walk-in bay window.

Other standard features include three additional bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a fireplace in the two-story family room, a deck, a two-story foyer and a deluxe Stuart kitchen.

Ashley's sales center is open from noon until 5 p.m. daily except Thursday. To visit, take the Beltway to Interstate 795 North. Turn right on Route 140. Turn right on Route 91. Development is on the left.

Fox Chase Woods

2. Artisan Homes opened two nongarage townhome models Saturday at Fox Chase Woods in the planned Anne Arundel County community of Fox Chase, which is adjacent to the 13.3-mile B&A Hiker-Biker Trail.

Both the Brighton and Foxleigh are 2,000-square-foot houses that have three bedrooms, a breakfast room, two full baths and a walk-out lower level with French doors.

Other standard features include cathedral ceilings in the master bedroom and stairway; gas heat, cooking and hot water; vinyl-clad, double-insulated tilt-in windows; a metal insulated front door and six-panel interior doors. Both are pre-wired for telephone service and cable television.

"Our designs provide the contemporary angles and space that reflect the architectural style of the 90s," Artisan President Herb Kishter said.

The models will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To reach Fox Chase Woods, take the Beltway to Route 97 South (Exit 4) to Route 100 East. After 1.5 miles, turn right on Oakwood Road. Turn left on Hospital Drive. Sales office on left.

Standard features include a brick front, four bedrooms, a family room, hardwood floors in the foyer and powder room, a fireplace, gas heat and full basement.

The sales center is open from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. all other days. To reach Watermill from U.S. 29, go south on Route 103, turn left on Kerger Road. Sales center is on the left.

4. Mark Building Co. will make its entry in Anne Arundel County in December when it begins building at Chapel Village in the planned community of Piney Orchard in Odenton.

The homes will sell for $149,995 to $195,000. Models will have three to five bedrooms, 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 baths, two-car garages, gas heat and hot water, family rooms, six-panel interior doors, hardwood or ceramic floors in the foyer and kitchens with breakfast rooms.

Being built on 2,000 acres, Piney Orchard has an ice arena and a community center with a weight center and aerobics room. There are outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a man-made lake, basketball and tennis courts and five miles of hiking and biking trails.

The Mark sales center is open from noon to 5 p.m. every day except Tuesday and Thursday.
