Two of Hammond's all-time premier female athletes have made their college choices.

Kisha Jett, a three-time Baltimore Sun All-Metro pick in track and field, signed a letter of intent yesterday to attend the University of Florida.

Kacy Williams, a two-time Baltimore Sun All-Metro first-team pick in basketball, has decided to attend Georgetown University and will sign a letter of intent tomorrow.

Jett, a three-time county, region and state Class 2A champion in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter outdoor dashes, received offers from nearly every major college in the country but narrowed her choices to Florida, Illinois and North Carolina before selecting the Gators.

"The climate, academics and facilities were all factors in her decision," Hammond track coach Pete Hughes said.

Jett holds county records in the 100, 200 and long jump outdoor, and the 55 dash, 55 hurdles and 300 dash indoors.

She has been ranked sixth nationally in the 200 by Track and Field News.

Her outdoor and indoor teams have won two county titles and two regional titles the past three seasons.

As a sophomore, Williams led her basketball team to its first state title by averaging 15.1 points, 4.7 assists, 5.6 steals and 7.3 rebounds.

The point guard led her team in scoring, assists and steals her junior season when the Bears lost in the state final.

Jett and Williams also play soccer.
