Man slain near park

November 10, 1993|By Staff report

The city recorded its 301st homicide late last night with the shooting-death of a Parkview-area man, whose body was found lying in the 3400 block of Woodbrook Ave., about two blocks west of Druid Hill Park.

Pronounced dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound to the chest was Jamal Andrew Weaver, 22, of the 3400 block of Holmes Ave.

The victim was identified at the scene by his father, who was summoned by persons who recognized the man.

Police said the man was believed to be walking home when someone shot him in the chest shortly after 11 p.m.

Robbery was ruled out as a motive since the victim's portable radio and headphones were lying next to his body when police found the man.
