Boy robbed at community college

An 11-year-old boy was robbed in a stairwell at Anne Arundel Community College Monday afternoon, county police said yesterday.

The boy was in the stairwell in the Careers Building at noon when he heard footsteps behind him, police said. He turned around and faced a man who demanded his money.

When the boy gave the man money from his shirt pocket, the man demanded his backpack and watch.

The boy gave him the property, and the man ran downstairs and out the door.

The boy's watch and wallet were later found in the stairway, the police report said, and his backpack was found in the bushes behind the building.

The boy described the robber as a black man about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing blue sweat pants and a blue and gold striped shirt.

Wawa store robbed in Crownsville

A man robbed the Wawa store in Crownsville early yesterday, county police reported.

According to the police report, the robber walked into the store in the 1000 block of Generals Highway at 12:29 a.m. and brought several items to the counter.

He walked behind the counter and ordered the clerk to take all the money out of the cash register. When the clerk opened the register, the robber grabbed the money and left the store.
