An 84-year-old man who was critically injured in an Oct. 25 head-on collision on Route 175 that injured five others has died.

Novak Vukcevich of the 10000 block of Hickory Ridge Road died last Tuesday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a spokesman there said.

His wife, Radmila Vukcevich, 76, who also was injured in the crash, was listed in serious but stable condition yesterday at the trauma center, the spokesman said.

The two were injured Oct. 25 about 3:05 p.m. when the driver of the 1993 Ford Taurus in which they were passengers made a U-turn on Route 175 and headed west in the eastbound passing lane, police said.

The rented Taurus, driven by Steve Petrovich, crashed head-on in to a 1992 Nissan Stanza driven by Leonard Leon Dempsey, 29, of the 5700 block of Yellowrose Court in Long Reach village, police said.

Mr. Petrovich, 75, of Chicago, was listed in good condition yesterday at Howard County General Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

His front-seat passenger, Branislav Radenkovic, 67, of Berwyn, Ill., was discharged this month from Howard County General Hospital.

Mr. Dempsey was discharged from the trauma center Oct. 28, the spokesman said.

His passenger, Jonathan S. Ryan, 24, was treated at Howard County General Hospital and released Oct. 26.

Howard County police charged Mr. Petrovich with negligent driving and failure to drive on the right side of a divided highway. The investigation is continuing, a county police spokesman said.
