Govans man, 37, dies from shot to head Saturday

A Govans man who was shot in the head near his home Saturday became the 299th homicide victim in Baltimore this year.

Elax Earl Williams, 37, was shot outside his home in the 500 block of Beaumont Ave., near York Road, at 3:30 p.m., city homicide detectives said.

Mr. Williams died Saturday night at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Police said that Mr. Williams may have been shot by two gunmen, but that the motive was undetermined.

At this time last year, 277 people had been slain in the city.

L Homicides claimed a record 335 lives in Baltimore last year.
