FORT WASHINGTON -- Historic, a contender for 2-year-old Horse Of The Year, captured the $179,268 Presidential Final last night at Rosecroft Raceway.

The son of Nihilator, driven by top Canadian pilot Doug Brown, grinded out a tough first-over mile and passed Magical Mike at the top of the stretch and held on for a three-quarters-of-a-length victory in 1 minute, 55 2/5 seconds.

The victory in the Presidential Final was the 10th triumph in 13 starts for Historic, who is trained by Stew Firlotte. Historic has earnings of $496,309 for owner Robert H. Grand of Campbellville, Ontario.
