Frostburg loses first game, 24-22

FROSTBURG -- Frostburg State was stopped on a two-point conversion try late in the fourth quarter and suffered its first loss of the season yesterday, 24-22, to Waynesburg College.

Frostburg (8-1) is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division III South region.

Chip Sheffield ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns for Waynesburg (3-5).

Frostburg's Jimmy Trapani scored on a 64-yard pass from Gilbert Telleria with 2:13 left in the fourth quarter. But Kevin Bellamy was stopped on the two-point conversion try that would have tied the game.

0 Telleria threw for 215 yards and ran for 54.
