SALISBURY -- Nothing went right last night for the South River boys soccer team, which lost, 3-0, to Parkside in the Class 2A East Region final.

Simeone Yurek scored two first-half goals, as the top-seeded Rams (7-3) knocked off the third-seeded Seahawks (4-10). David Luppens was credited with the final goal when goalkeeper Chuck Love inadvertently stepped over the goal line while making a save.

"Parkside was a good, hustling team, but I was dissatisfied with our defense and I thought our goalkeeper was tentative at times," South River coach Greg Carroll said. "Offensively, we didn't have any strong thrusts, which has been the story all year for us."

Parkside outshot South River 22-17. Love finished with 13 saves, and the Rams' Rick Briggs had 11.
