* 105-pounders -- The Severna Park Green Hornets regained first place in the Magothy River Conference with a 20-0 win over the Annapolis All Stars in a steady downpour Saturday at Weems Whalen Field.

Severna Park wingback Dennis Cantwell scored twice on 5-yard runs and tailback Jay Walker added a 6-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Mike Cosper accounted for both extra points.

Running back Mehdi Nematollahi led Severna Park's backfield with 85 yards on 11 carries.

Clearing the way for the backs and dominating the line of scrimmage were offensive linemen Charlie Winkle, Jeremy Winkle, Ryan McGarry, Chris Odom, Stark Mueller, Scott MacMullen, Jerry Cornett and Matt Lehmann.

The Hornets' defense, led by Davin Rausch, Jeremy Tate, Patrick McNeill, Mark Terry and Brette Steele, registered its fifth shutout and held the All Stars to three first downs.

Dennis Gore scored two touchdowns to lead Maryland City to a 19-12 victory over the Anne Arundel Gridiron Rebels.

Gore scored on runs of 50 and 1 yard and DeAnte Saab added the Mustangs' final touchdown run. Saab, John Goverman and Jacob Robinson led the Maryland City defense with five tackles each.

On a day marked by fumbles on exchanges because of poor weather conditions, Maryland City center Andrew Howard had an errorless day.

* 120-pounders -- The Fort Meade Cougars (6-1) defeated the Brooklyn Park Broncos, 26-0, Monday night, securing at least a tie for first place in the Severn River Conference.

John Banks led the way for the Cougars as he returned two interceptions for touchdowns, one for 25 yards and the other for 35 yards.

Fort Meade running back Scott Campbell added touchdowns on runs of 65 and 45 yards.

* 140-pounders -- Damone Lanier's extra-point catch and blocked kick helped the Fort Meade Cougars (4-3) outlast the Brooklyn Park Broncos, 7-6, Saturday. The victory keeps the Cougars' playoff hopes alive.

Malwan Johnson scored the Cougars' only touchdown on an 86-yard run. Lanier added the extra point when he caught a pass from quarterback Jackson Barrosa.

The Savages scored in the second half, but Lanier blocked the point-after kick to preserve the victory.

In other 140-pound action, Maryland City squeaked by the Anne Arundel Gridiron Rebels, 6-0.

The game's only score came on a 15-yard pass from quarterback Jamie Hitaffer to Jesse Parish.

Everett Weaver and Nate Stasko led the defense for the victors with 12 and nine tackles, respectively. Stephen Diviaio intercepted two Rebels passes and broke up a potential game-winning pass in the waning seconds of the contest.

Phil Mullinix also intercepted a pass for Maryland City and Jeremy Grizzle recovered a fumble.

* 90-pounders -- The Maryland City Mustangs downed the Anne Arundel Gridiron Rebels, 12-0, Saturday.

Kyle Jenson and Robert Rexrode provided the scoring for Maryland City and Justin Diviaio's (two sacks), Ivan Ross (fumble recovery) and Jonathan Glump bolstered the Mustangs' defense.
