Atlantic Division

New York Knicks

Last season: 60-22, first

Coach: Pat Riley, 644-247 in 11 seasons (third season with Knicks)

New faces: F Anthony Bonner

Outlook: The Knicks have one of the league's top defenses and one of the deepest teams in the league. New York already has an All-Star in C Patrick Ewing, and an All-Star in the making in G John Starks -- if he's able to control his emotions.

Key: The development of backup guards Greg Anthony and Hubert Davis.

Orlando Magic

Last season: 41-41, fourth

Coach: Brian Hill, first year

hTC New faces: G Anfernee Hardaway, F Larry Krystkowiak, G Todd Lichti

Outlook: After just missing the playoffs last season, the Magic is almost a lock with the addition of Hardaway to a lineup that already features C Shaquille O'Neal.

Key: The outside shooting of Dennis Scott and Hardaway's ability to handle the pressure that goes along with his huge contract.
