November 04, 1993

Police charged a 19-year-old Taneytown man with drug violations yesterday after a search-and-seizure raid at his house. The raid turned up 13 live marijuana plants, police said.

Keith A. Crawford, of the 300 block of E. Baltimore St., was arrested in the house and charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. He was sent to the Carroll County Detention Center on $2,500 bond.

An additional felony charge of possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a public school was filed against him. Northwest Middle School is just behind the suspect's home.

Members of the Carroll County Narcotics Task Force, who conducted the 10:50 a.m. raid, said they found the plants, a homemade pipe and other smoking paraphernalia in the house. Police also seized a 1978 Ford van, they said.
