Odenton Elementary set to hold PTA meeting today

Odenton Elementary School will have a Parent Teacher Association Meeting at 7 p.m. today in the school cafeteria.

Details concerning the Santa Shop will be discussed. Also, the class with the highest attendance in October will be announced and will fly the PTA CHAMP banner this month.


Tuesday Night Bible Study at Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton will resume on a regular basis beginning at 7:30 tonight.

The program, which will run 15 to 20 weeks, will concentrate on the Book of Job, which will be read in its entirety.

In addition to using the Bible, the Rev. James Manning has chosen a supplementary study book, "Be Patient," by Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe, which will be given to each member of the class.

Participants should read all assigned passages before each class in order to enhance group discussion and to assist in a better understanding of the message and how it applies to their lives today.

If you have not been a participant in the Tuesday night Bible Study, but plan to join the group, contact the church office at 674-2272.


Nurses from the Odenton Health Center will be at the O'Malley Senior Center from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to provide flu shots.

There is no fee for the shot, but donations of up to $5 would be appreciated. The morning time slot is reserved for Claiborn Place residents. The afternoon session is open to everyone of all ages.

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will present "An Evening with Elvis" from 8 p.m. to midnight Nov. 13 at the Odenton Fire Hall, 1425 Annapolis Road (Route 175).

The cost is $20 a person which includes beer, set-ups and chips.

Music will be provided by "Reason." Elvis will be played by Jesse Aaron, who also has the role of the King in the movie, "Major League II," filmed at Camden Yards.

The Retired Officers Wives Club will have a Husband Appreciation Brunch at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Fort Meade Officers Club.

The Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church will hold a new members class from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 13. The class will continue from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Nov. 14.

Continental breakfast and child care will be provided.
