City's defense dominates Edmondson, 32-6 Football

City's defense had three interceptions and one fumble recovery and scored two touchdowns as the top-ranked Knights (9-0, 4-0) slammed host Edmondson, 32-6, in a non-league game.

City senior linebacker Xavier Logan ran back a fumble recovery 55 yards for the first score and also intercepted a pass. Running back Ricky Dangerfield had 120 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries for City.

?3 Edmondson is 0-8 overall and 0-7 in the league.

Dunbar 34, Mervo 0

Senior running back Johnny Sawyer rushed 17 times for 139 yards as No. 14 Dunbar (7-2) dropped Mervo (3-6) in a non-league game. Junior running back Kim Kent rushed nine times for 107 yards.

Senior quarterback Rodney Elliott completed 13 of 17 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns.

Severn 29, Boys' Latin 6

Junior running back John Vereen ran for 278 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries to lead Severn (3-5, 2-2) past visiting Boys' Latin (4-4, 2-2) in an MSA B Conference game.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound tailback opened the scoring in the first quarter on an 85-yard touchdown run, and closed the scoring in the fourth with a 65-yard touchdown. Vereen also scored on a 21-yard run in the third quarter.

Linebacker Scott Singleton led the defense for Severn, with six solo tackles and eight assists.

Southern-B 36, Northwestern 14

Andre Scott, a junior tailback and middle linebacker, rushed for two touchdowns and ran back an interception for another score as Southern-B topped visiting Northwestern (1-7). Scott had 148 yards on eight carries.

The Bulldogs (4-5) broke the game open with 20 points in the second quarter.

Walbrook 33, Southwestern 0

Senior linebacker Dwayne McClain had 13 tackles as visiting Walbrook (4-5, 4-3) shut down Southwestern (2-7, 1-4) in a Baltimore City 4A League game. Junior quarterback Maurice Selby was 4-for-6 for 102 yards.

Elkton 14, Bel Air 6

Woody Braywood returned the ensuing kickoff for 86 yards after Bel Air took the lead as Elkton defeated the host Bobcats (5-4) in a non-league game.

Mike Deal's 3-yard touchdown reception gave Bel Air a 6-0 lead in the fourth quarter.

L Tony Fields' 40-yard touchdown reception capped the scoring.

Lake Clifton 34, Northern 8

Senior wide receiver Dennis Harding had eight carries for 231 yards and one touchdown as Lake Clifton downed host Northern in a non-league game. Junior running back Kenny Williams had )) 11 carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns.

Douglass 16, Carver 14

Jeremy Turlington threw touchdown passes of 15 and 20 yards to Craig Smith as Douglass (3-5, 2-2) defeated Carver (4-5, 0-3) in a Baltimore City 3A league game. Turlington was 8-for-14 for 120 yards.

K? Ducks slotback Felix Jones had eight carries for 111 yards.

Kenwood 32, Parkville 0

Antonio Maddox scored two touchdowns to lead Kenwood (6-3, 4-3) past visiting Parkville (1-7, 1-6) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A league game. John Lilly, who scored one touchdown for the Bluebirds, carried five times for 110 yards.
