Zoning exception denied for car lot on Liberty Road Community plan cited in decision

October 28, 1993|By Staff Report

An abandoned Liberty Road gas station will not become a used car lot, according to a decision by the county Board of Appeals.

The nearly 1-acre site sits on the west side of Liberty Road at Venetian Road north of Northern Parkway. Barry Parsons, who owns several used car lots, wants to put another used car operation there. The county's people's counsel and neighbors in the Robin Hill community behind the site opposed Mr. Parsons' request for a special zoning exception.

The board agreed that despite Mr. Parsons' plan to eliminate a neighborhood eyesore, the land's current zoning and the newly adopted Woodlawn/Liberty Community Plan do not permit a used car lot on the site. The board denied the special exception Oct. 21. The decision may be appealed to Circuit Court within 30 days.
