Baseball California Angels -- Placed IF Kurt Stillwell on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. Acquired P Mike James from the Los Angeles Dodgers for OF Reggie Williams.

Chicago White Sox -- Agreed to terms with 1B Frank Thomas on a four-year contract extension with two option seasons through the year 2000. Exercised their 1994 option on C Mike LaValliere.

nTC Colorado Rockies -- Declined to exercise 1994 option on P Bruce Hurst.

New York Mets -- Added Frank Howard, Greg Pavlick and Steve Swisher to the coaching staff.

New York Yankees -- Declined to exercise 1994 option on P Mike Witt.

Missouri Valley Conference -- Suspended Drake basketball coach Rudy Washington from the team's Nov. 27 opener with Simpson because of his comments at last season's MVC tournament. Washington had complained publicly about officiating and general administration of the conference after Drake's 60-59 loss to Illinois State in the tournament semifinals on March 7.

Kansas State -- Suspended WR Henry Smalls and WR Tim Sanders indefinitely for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

Washington -- Named Ralph Bayard to the newly created position of senior associate athletic director for compliance and internal operations.
