UMBC wins opener in Fla. tourney COLLEGE SOCCER

SALISBURY — DeLAND, Fla. -- J. J. Kremer scored two goals as UMBC (6-0-1) extended its unbeaten streak to seven, defeating Central Florida (2-8-1), 5-4, in the first round of the Florida Invitational Cup at Stetson University.

Kremer scored the game-opener 5:43 into the first and scored at 69:38 of the second half. Tim Ryerson broke the halftime tie 2:29 into the second half, giving UMBC a 2-1 advantage and the lead for good.

Navy 1, Army 0

Brian Taylor recovered a loose ball and scored from 16 yards out, as Navy (3-10-3) shut out Army (8-5-1).

Navy goalie T. J. Grady made seven saves.

"This is the first game of the season that the whole team has played up to their level," said Navy coach Greg Myers. "This was a typical Army-Navy game. It wasn't pretty, but we got the job done."

Salisbury State 4, Catholic 0

SALISBURY -- Matt Tirschman (Overlea) scored two goals and Jason Fearn added a goal and an assist to lead Salisbury State (9-4-1) past visiting Catholic (5-10-1), extending the Sea Gulls' unbeaten streak to a school-record 10.

Willie Morris added a goal and an assist for Salisbury.

Sean Starnes scored the go-ahead goal with six minutes left to lift host Harford CC over Prince George's CC in a Maryland JuCo game.

Mike Dempsey tied the game at 1 for Harford (7-5-1).
