Quick action foils robbery in Town Center

October 21, 1993

An armed robbery at a Town Center gas station was foiled Tuesday night when the attendant ran inside the bullet-proof booth and locked the door, Howard County police said.

At about 11:50 p.m. a man entered the Exxon station in the 10100 block of Little Patuxent Parkway and began calling to the clerk, who was outside of the service booth at the time.

The clerk heard the man shout, "Freeze," but immediately ran inside the booth and called police. Then the would-be thief fled.

A witness at the station told police the man was approaching the worker with a handgun.

The man was described as a black male in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, wearing a dark pullover sweat shirt and dark pants, police said.

Anyone with information should call Howard County police at 313-2266.
