Wyoming man killed in car crash in Glen Burnie

A 22-year-old Wyoming man was killed over the weekend in a car accident in Glen Burnie, county police said yesterday.

Erik Clay Byers, who works for the Coast Guard, was turning onto Marley Neck Boulevard from East Howard Road about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, when his car struck a car driven by Norman Edward Shifflet, 38, of the 300 block of Shannon Forest Court, Glen Burnie.

Mr. Byers was taken by ambulance to North Arundel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 a.m.

Mr. Shifflet was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious condition yesterday.
