STACY LOUK

School: Hammond High senior

Hometown: Columbia

Age: 17

Stacy has no future political aspirations, but she has been involved in student government for the four years she has attended Hammond.

She serves this year as the school's Student Government Association president, and in the past, she has held such positions as SGA vice president, sophomore class co-president, and freshman class vice president.

An avid horseback rider for seven years, Stacy also plays varsity volleyball and was part of the school's varsity tennis team her freshman year. She is a member of the Spanish Club and SHOP (Students Helping Other People).

Outside of school, she belongs to the Lutheran Youth Group of New Hope Lutheran Church in Columbia and is a member of MESA (Math, Engineering and Science Association).

Volunteering for various organizations is an activity Stacy enjoys. She has worked for blood drives at her school, Special Olympics, Tree Menders America and Grassroots, where she has helped collect canned food and cooked monthly meals.

Every summer, she works as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the Columbia Association.

Plans: Stacy has applied for early acceptance into Mary Washington College in Virginia to study biology.

Her comments: "Something that probably will not be solved in my generation is we do not have peace. I know it's not going to be in my lifetime."
