Therapist appointed to advisory board

Sherry Brokus Patton has been appointed to the advisory board of Alcohol & Drug Programs Management Inc.

Ms. Patton operates a private practice in Millersville as a psychological therapist and is the Anne Arundel County HIV/AIDS coordinator.

She also works as a consultant, therapist and educator.

Dreyfuss to head communications group

Carol Dreyfuss has been elected president of the Maryland Professional Chapter of Women in Communications Inc.

At a meeting to elect officers, the group changed its name from the Annapolis Area Chapter to the Maryland Professional Chapter.

Other officers are: Edith Sakell, vice president; Joan Machinchick, president elect; Beth Workman, secretary; Abby Chapple, treasurer; and Pat Troy, past president.

Realtors association honors three agents

Three real estate agents from the Glen Burnie office of O'Conor, Piper & Flynn, were recently honored by the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors for their 1992-1993 Association committee chairmanships.

Bill Curlett, a seven-year employee of the firm, chaired the political affairs committee.

Carmen Flynn, chairman of the public relations committee, has been with the company for five years.

Fred Lee, who joined the firm in April, was chairman of the education committee.

New agents join O'Conor, Piper & Flynn

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn offices in Annapolis recently added more real estate agents.

The Annapolis Plaza office took on George Choulis and Ronald Paape. David and Denise Lovelady joined the Annapolis/Church Circle office.

Arundel companies approved for loans

Bay State Computers in Crofton and K&K Trash Removal have received approval for direct loans from the incentive fund of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp.

Bay State Computers will soon begin to provide small-systems integration service as an 8(a) certified government contractor and will use the loan to increase its staff from two to eight.

K&K Trash Removal will use loan money to build a new facility and consolidate office and truck operations, as well as to add four employees to a staff of four.

The fund was set up to help Anne Arundel County businesses.

Chewning Properties honored by chamber

Chewning Properties has been honored by the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce as 1993 Business of the Year.

The award honors businesses that have made significant contributions to the community.

Annapolis architect's house wins award

A project of the Annapolis architectural firm Hammond Associates has been named by the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and Baltimore magazine as one of the four best new houses of 1993.

The Creek House, Hammond's winning design, was praised as reflecting past and future influences and being consistently good.

Peanut Shop opens store in Annapolis

The Peanut Shop has opened doors on its fifth shop, in downtown Annapolis at 158 Main St.

BWI Airport to have fall festival activities

Baltimore-Washington International Airport will celebrate the season with a fall festival with activities planned throughout the month.

Area businesses and celebrities will be featured along with artisans and craftsmen.

Also this month, Airline Destination Days will have air carriers that use the airport highlighting their passengers' favorite destinations with entertainment, food and music.

'Business After Hours' set at carpet store

Warehouse Carpet & Tile will hold a "Business After Hours" for the Annapolis Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the shop, 1714 West St. in Annapolis.

Tickets are $7.50 in advance and

$10 at the door.

Orioles owner Angelos to address bar dinner

Peter G. Angelos, general partner of the Baltimore Orioles, will be the keynote speaker at the Anne Arundel County Bar Association's fall dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at La Fontaine Bleu, 7514 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.
