One of the area's biggest moving companies will move itself, as B. Von Paris & Sons Inc. said it would close today on the purchase of a 9-acre parcel of land in Savage. The company said it planned to open a 100,000-square-foot warehouse and headquarters there in 1995.

The 101-year-old agent for north American Van Lines expected to buy the site in the Corridor Industrial Park on Larkin Road for about $100,000 an acre, Von Paris spokesman Bruce McCubbin said.

The seller is SAI Realty Inc., an affiliate of the auto company Subaru of America, said Robert Oare, a broker for Manekin Corp. who represented Von Paris in the deal. He said Subaru has a warehouse next door to the site, and the warehouse was also for sale. James Leanos and Mac Ford of CB Commercial Real Estate Services represented Subaru.

Von Paris is spread over seven locations, with top officials in Timonium but other headquarters operations located in Woodlawn, Mr. McCubbin said.

"We intend to maintain a presence in this [I-83] corridor," Mr. McCubbin said. "What that will be yet is uncertain."

The move wasn't expected to mean big job gains or losses for the 150-employee company. An undetermined number of employees would move from different locations to Savage, Mr. McCubbin said.
