Gillian's goals pace Terps, 2-0

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY — EMMITSBURG -- Malcolm Gillian scored two second-half goals to lead Maryland (3-7) to a 2-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's (5-5) in a non-league men's soccer game yesterday.

The Terrapins played the entire second half with a man advantage after the Mount's Karl Taverner was red-carded for an intentional handball.

The sweeper back knocked away a would-be goal by Yohan Habte at the 36:55 mark.

Habte's ensuing penalty kick was kicked away by goalie Keith Kennedy.

Loyola 2, St. Peter's 0

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Dave Briles and Marc Harrison scored first-half goals and Zach Thornton (John Carroll) recorded his 10th shutout of the season as Loyola (11-2, 5-0) defeated St. Peter's (2-7, 1-2) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

Loyola won its third straight game and held an opponent scoreless for the 11th time this season.

Briles scored at 26:47 of the first half, when he took a pass from Mike Konopaski and put a 25-yard shot past goalie Todd Moses of St. Peter's. Harrison scored his team-leading ninth goal, on an assist from Bill Wnek, with 13:36 left in the first

half.

G. Mason 1, Towson State 0

FAIRFAX. VIRGINIA

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Tamir Linhart scored off of a rebound early in the second half to lead George Mason (7-5-1) past Towson State (4-5), sending the Tigers to their second straight loss.
