Officials have announced the order of the 12 races for Saturday's Maryland Million card, which will be run for the first time in four years at Laurel Race Course.

There are also plans for a retirement ceremony for two Maryland Million winners, Little Bold John and Timely Warning, who will parade down the homestretch before the 11th race.

The Laurel track opens its 61-day fall and winter live racing meet today. The meet initially extends through Dec. 31, then runs from Jan. 1 through early March.

The new meet will be punctuated by the Maryland Million, followed on successive Saturdays by the Selima and Laurel Futurity and the International Turf Festival.

There is no live racing Sunday because of a Washington Redskins home game, but the track will be open for out-of-state simulcasts. There will be live racing Monday, Columbus Day.

After the Breeders' Cup, Nov. 6, the track will replace Sunday live racing with live Wednesday cards to avoid competition with the NFL.

Post time today is 1 p.m.
