Church to mark 150th anniversary

St. Paul's United Methodist Church of New Windsor, 200 Main St., will celebrate its 150th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Charles Acker Jr. giving the sermon, "If God is Good."

Several former pastors will assist in this service when the anniversary bell will be rung for the 150th time this year.

Lunch will follow the service and there will be a display of St. Paul's memorabilia.

Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. with classes for all ages.

The Rev. Bernard Keels, district superintendent, will deliver the message at the service of re-dedication at 3 p.m. The cornerstone put in place when the church was built in 1897 will be opened.

FIRE

* New Windsor: New Windsor was dispatched to investigate a fire alarm sounding in a building on Glenvue Drive at 2:34 p.m. Saturday.

Units were out for 24 minutes.

Union Bridge: Union Bridge, New Windsor, Taneytown, Westminster and New Midway of Frederick County were dispatched for a furnace fire in a house on Farquar St. at 2:59 p.m. Friday.

Units were out for 33 minutes.
