Terps top James Madison, 2-1 COLLEGE SOCCER

Midfielder Leslie Kehrin scored her second goal of the season with less than eight minutes left to give Maryland (6-2) a 2-1 victory over James Madison (4-5) in a non-conference women's soccer game in College Park yesterday.

Kehrin scored the game-winner on a pass from midfielder Tricia Taliaferro. Kehrin received the pass just outside the box, dribbled in and scored over the outstretched arms of Dukes goalie Jennifer Donaldson. Maryland tied the game at 1 when Kelly Amonte scored her fourth goal of the season on a header at the 53:48 mark.

Forward Jamie Dykes scored James Madison's goal with an assist from forward Ashley Williams.

* Loyola 1, Towson State 0: Freshman Chris Serroca scored off a pass from senior Lynda Lohsen with 17:12 left in the first half to lead Loyola (6-1-1) to its fifth straight victory, defeating Towson State (4-2).

Serroca's goal broke up a scoreless tie and helped end the Tigers' three-game winning streak. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Clark made six saves in posting the shutout. It's the second straight season that Loyola has defeated Towson State.

* UMBC 8, Mount St. Mary's 0: UMBC scored seven first-half goals en route to an easy win over Mount St. Mary's (0-5) in Emmitsburg. The Retrievers (6-5) got two goals each from Denise Schilte, Kristen Einarson and Sheila Osterman.
