New president named at Millersville hospice

Erwin Abrams, 52, of Clearwater, Fla., was recently appointed president of Hospice of the Chesapeake and executive director of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation.

Mr. Abrams' 28 years of experience in health care include more than 10 years of work with hospice care as a volunteer and director of one of the world's largest hospice programs in Clearwater.

A member of the American Hospital Association, a diplomate of the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the Medical Group Management Association, he received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Minnesota and his master's degree in health care administration from George Washington University.

According to Mr. Abrams, he accepted the job at the Millersville facility realizing "the people here are a uniquely dedicated group."

Dr. Hilary O'Herlihy, chairman of the board, states, "In Mr. Abrams, we have found an experienced professional whose energy level and expertise will enable Hospice of the Chesapeake to achieve our mission of serving all those in need in Anne Arundel County."
