An update on the front-runners for the Heisman Trophy:

MARVIN GRAVES, SYRACUSE, QB

Last week: Eclipsed the school's total offense record by accounting for 351 yards in the Orangemen's 24-21 victory over Cincinnati. He completed 29 of 44 passes and has 7,256 career yards.

Season totals: 75 completions, 114 attempts, 1,095 yards, 6 TDs.

TYRONE WHEATLEY, MICHIGAN, RB

Last week: Amassed his third 100-yard game of the season with 171 in a 42-21 victory over Houston. He also scored three touchdowns.

Season totals: 66 carries, 434 yards, 6.6 average, 6 TDs.

HEATH SHULER, TENNESSEE, QB

Last week: Passed for three touchdowns as the Volunteers rolled over LSU, 42-20. He finished 13 of 19 for 166 yards while playing only two series in the second half.

Season totals: 67 completions, 110 attempts, 901 yards, 13 TDs.

CHARLIE WARD, FLORIDA STATE, QB

Last week: Idle.

Season totals: 90 completions, 131 attempts, 1,086 yards, 8 TDs.

MARSHALL FAULK, SAN DIEGO STATE, RB

Last week: The two-time national rushing leader assumed a secondary role to QB Tim Gutierrez in a 48-17 romp over Minnesota. Faulk rushed for only 81 yards, fourth-lowest total of his career, on 22 carries and scored once.

Season totals: 95 carries, 421 yards, 4.4 average, 9 TDs.
