Goucher rolls to 3-0 field hockey win COLLEGES

Chrissi Czajkowski scored a goal and had one assist to lead Goucher College to a 3-0 field hockey win over host Widener yesterday.

* Susquehanna 1, Western Maryland 0: Tracey Corrigan scored the only goal as Susquehanna (6-1) defeated Western Maryland (1-4) in a non-conference game.

* Ithaca 4, Salisbury 0: Ithaca outshot Salisbury 32-9 as the Sea Gulls were defeated for only the second time this year.

Cross country

* Retriever Invitational: The UMBC women and Drexel men won the team championships at yesterday's Retriever Invitational at UMBC.

Towson State sophomore Shari Mark won the women's 3.1-mile course in 19:55 and Radford's Merrill Hausenfluck won the men's 5-mile championship in 25:26.

* George Mason Invitational: Mount St. Mary's placed 11th of 17 teams at the George Mason Women's Cross Country Invitational.

The Mountaineers finished with 354 points, two shy of UNC-Wilmington and one more than 12th place Maryland. Villanova won the meet.

* Susquehanna Invitational: Monica Beall of Goucher College placed third in a field of 85 in the women's bracket of the Susquehanna Invitational. Other finishers for Goucher were Ha Lam (40th), Paula Karinshak (58th) and Tamara Keesey (83rd). Kevin Probst of Goucher finished 23rd in a field of 98 in the men's bracket.
