GREAT BLACKS IN WAX MUSEUM, 1601-03 E. North Ave., (410) 563-6415. Black-history showcase. Contact: Liz Byrd. Reserve two months in advance. Accommodates 150 seated with tables, 200 seated with chairs alone; 250 standing. Cost: $250, plus $1 per person for four hours. Tours may be included in the package, in which case admission prices will be lowered 20 percent.

GREY ROCK MANSION, 8901 Reisterstown Road, (410) 833-9500. Eighteenth-century English manor house and gardens. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 150 for seated dinner, 175 for cocktail reception, 225 with rented tent. Available daily. 1 a.m. curfew. Catering by Valley Caterers of Worthington only. Cost varies.

HAMMOND-HARWOOD HOUSE, 19 Maryland Ave., Annapolis, (410) 269-1714. National Historic Landmark built in 1774. Contact: Melissa Mansur. Accommodates up to 50 standing or 24-40 seated inside, up to 125 inside and out in summer when the garden is usable. Available after 4 p.m. from October to April, after 5 p.m. from April to October. List of approved caterers and musicians available. Acoustic music only. Call for rates.

HAMPTON MANSION TEA ROOM TERRACE, 535 Hampton Lane, Towson, (410) 583-7401. Eighteenth-century mansion. Contact: Yvonne Barber. Reserve six to seven months in advance. Accommodates up to 100 seated, 150 standing on the terrace. Available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays. Closed Jan. 15 to the first Tuesday in March. In-house catering only. Cost based on tent rental and catering.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF CARROLL COUNTY, 210 E. Main St., Westminster, (410) 848-6494. Receptions take place in the auditorium. Contact: Susan Barbera. Reserve as early as possible. Accommodates 110 standing, 65 seated. Music and caterers subject to museum's approval. Cost: $200 plus security deposit. Additional cost for security.

HISTORIC INNS OF ANNAPOLIS, 16 Church Circle, Annapolis, (410) 263-2641. Contact: Marie Baehr. Reserve three to six months in advance. Historic Inns of Annapolis has two inns available for receptions: the Gov. Calvert House and the Maryland Inn. The Gov. Calvert House, at 58 State Circle, accommodates 160 seated, 200 to 250 standing. The Maryland Inn, at 16 Church Circle, accommodates 60 seated, 125 standing. Both are available daily. The Gov. Calvert House has an 11 p.m. curfew, the Maryland Inn, 1 a.m. Both have in-house catering only. Custom menus are available, and there is the option of choosing menus from the Treaty of Paris restaurant. Both cost from $39 to $48 per person.

KURTZ PLEASURE BEACH, 2070 Kurtz Ave., Pasadena, (410) 255-1280. Casual setting overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Contact: Bonnie Kurtz. Reserve one month in advance. Available day or night year-round. Accommodates 225 seated, 400 standing. Cost: $15-$25 per person. In-house catering only.

LIRIODENDRON, 502 W. Gordon St., Bel Air, (410) 879-4424. Late 19th-century mansion graced by liriodendron (tulip poplar) trees. Contact: Shelley Dolan. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 100 seated, 200 standing May to September, 100 seated indoors October to March. Cost: $650 for a 6 1/2-hour booking, which is a four-hour reception time. A $200 security deposit is required to reserve the date.

LONDON TOWN PUBLIK HOUSE AND GARDENS, 839 Londontown Road, Edgewater, (410) 222-1919. Eight acres of woodland gardens surround the Publik House tavern. Contact: Pat Henry. Reservations -- taken up to one year in advance -- are required. Accommodates up to 175. Available mid-April to mid-October. Preferred catering list available. Cost varies; four-hour rental begins at $500. Tent available.

MARYVALE, 11300 Falls Road, (410) 252-3528. English-style castle built in 1917. Contact: Sister Mary. Accommodates 100 standing or seated May to October, 75 standing, 42-60 seated November to April. Available weekends only during the school year; daily during the summer. 8 p.m. curfew in spring, summer and fall, 6 p.m. curfew in winter. Cost varies. No smoking in the building. Limited dancing. Approved caterer only.

METROPOLITAN THEATRE AT NIRVANA, 1727 N. Charles St., (410) 685-9428. Features a 90-foot mural of prominent Baltimore citizens. Contact: Kevin Brown. Accommodates 350 to 400 seated, 500 to 600 standing. Available daily. Cost: $550 plus setup and cleaning fees. Caterers list available.

MOUNT CLARE STABLE, Carroll Park, Washington Boulevard and South Monroe Street, (410) 837-3262. Turn-of-the-century mansion is part of Baltimore's oldest residence. Contact: Joan Feldman. Reserve as early as possible. Accommodates 100 seated, 200 standing. Available daily. Midnight curfew. Cost: $475 plus a $50 custodial fee.
