Hopkins' goal in 2nd overtime leads St. Mary's by Arundel, 1-0 Girls sports

Amy Hopkins scored the winning goal with one second left in the second overtime to lead St. Mary's past Arundel, 1-0, yesterday in a girls field hockey game. Jen Davis assisted on the goal for Arundel (1-2).

* Annapolis 1, Broadneck 0: Erin Miller scored her first goal of the season with 19:00 left in regulation to lead Annapolis over No. 12 Broadneck. Kim Seelos assisted the game-winning goal.

* Seton Keough 0, Maryvale 0: Seton Keough and Maryvale battled to a scoreless tie as Maryvale's Mary Kate Morris had two saves and Seton Keough's Celia Ashton had seven saves.

* Chesapeake-AA 4, South River 0: Emily Plenge had a goal and two assists as Chesapeake shut out South River.

* Hammond 6, West Lake 0: Senior inner Amber Duckworth scored four goals to lead host Hammond (1-1) over West Lake.

* York Christian 4, Harford Christian 0: Hilary Kortuz recorded one save as York Christian shut down Harford Christian. Harford Christian goalkeeper Melissa Bell had two saves.

* Severn 0, Notre Dame Prep 0: Notre Dame Prep's Erin Graham collected 10 saves and Severn's Jill Stursa had seven as the Pirates (1-0-1) and the No. 14 Admirals (1-1-2) battled to a tie.

Girls soccer

* North County 8, Meade 0: Tracy Mrazeck scored five goals and Lisa Martin had four assists to lead North County (1-0) past Meade (0-1-1).

* Arundel 4, Northeast 3: Senior Barbara Muller scored three goals as Arundel (2-0) defeated host Northeast.

* Southern-B 2, Poly 2, 2 OT: Southern's Shannon Dodge scored a second-half goal to tie the game as the Bulldogs (0-2-1) went to double-overtime with Poly.

* Western 6, Patterson 2: Kerri Harman scored five goals as Western (3-0) defeated host Patterson. Maria Jacobs scored both Patterson goals on penalty kicks.


* South River 3, West Lake 1: Pam Patterson led South River (3-1) with nine kills and two aces as the Seahawks beat host West Lake, 15-8, 15-6, 15-4.
