Wojciechowski's goal lifts Gibbons past St. Mary's Boys soccer

Steve Wojciechowski scored the winning goal 33:00 into the first half yesterday to lead Cardinal Gibbons (3-2) to a 1-0 victory over St. Mary's (2-5) in Maryland Scholastic Association A Conference Division II action.

* Curley 4, Spalding 1: Mike Hemelt scored two second-half goals to lead top-ranked Curley (5-0, 4-0) past host Spalding in an MSA A Conference Division II game.

* Mount St. Joseph 3, Severn 1: Steve Matcuk scored two goals to lead the Gaels (2-6) past the visiting Admirals in an MSA A Conference Division II game.

* Boys' Latin 2, St. Paul's 1: David Rose and Chris Turner scored to lead the Lakers (3-2) past the Crusaders in an MSA A Conference Division I game.

* Severna Park 10, Southern-AA 0: Scott Neuberger made a hat trick to lead No. 2 Severna Park (1-1) past host Southern (1-1) in an Anne Arundel County game.

* Poly 5, Southern-B 0: Poly exploded for four goals in the second half to beat Southern. John Leukewicz had a pair of goals for the Engineers in a Baltimore City League game.

* Calvert Hall 6, Gilman 0: Chad Piunti scored three goals as No. 7 Calvert Hall defeated Gilman. Mike Lance added two goals for the Cardinals in an MSA A Conference Division I game.

* North County 4, Meade 1: Emmanuel Uche scored two goals as host and No. 10 North County (2-0, 1-0) defeated Meade (1-1, 0-1) in an Anne Arundel County 4A League game.

* Chesapeake-AA 2, South River 1: Fred Sporrer and Eric Dahlen each scored a goal assisted by the other as No. 14 Chesapeake (2-0) defeated host South River (1-1). Mike Hrubiak scored for South River.

* Loyola 3, McDonogh 2: Senior midfielder Mike O'Malley scored two goals as Loyola (4-1, 3-0) defeated visiting McDonogh (2-3, 1-3) in an MSA A Conference Division I game.

* City 14, Mervo 0: Chris Cranson and Harvey Dennie scored four goals each as City (2-0, 2-0) defeated host Mervo (0-2, 0-2) in a Baltimore City League game.

* North Harford 4, Aberdeen 0: Junior midfielder Keith Smith had two goals and an assist as North Harford (1-0, 1-0) beat host Aberdeen (0-3, 0-1) in a Harford County game.
