Coyle's OT goal sends Towson over Md., 2-1 COLLEGE SOCCER Men

Sophomore Frank Zampardi's header tied the game with less than two minutes left in regulation, and junior Pat Coyle scored a touch-pass goal in overtime to lift host Towson State over Maryland, 2-1, yesterday.

The victory extended Towson's win streak against Maryland to three years. Maryland (2-5-0) outshot Towson State (3-3-0), 29-15.

Loyola 4, George Washington 0

Leading scorer Marc Harrison started a four-goal assault with 17:14 left in the first half as host Loyola posted its sixth shutout and defeated South Atlantic Region rival George Washington.

The Greyhounds (6-1) scored all their goals during a 10-minute period, sparked by Harrison (five goals, two assists this season). Bill Wnek, Chris Doyle and Tim Shields added unassisted goals for a 4-0 lead before the half. Loyola outshot George Washington (1-5-1), 18-12.

UMBC 3, Mount St. Mary's 2

Senior Bobby Wagner scored off a deflection with 25 minutes left to break a tie and lift UMBC (5-0) over Mount St. Mary's (5-2).

UMBC is off to its best start in Division I and its best start overall since 1975.

Navy 1, Lehigh 0

Brent Boyle scored off an assist from Seth Walters with 7:13 remaining in the second half as Navy (1-5-2, 1-1) defeated Lehigh in a Patriot League game.

Salisbury State 3, Wesley 0

SALISBURY -- Mike Connors broke a scoreless tie 5:50 into the second half as Salisbury State (1-4) defeated Wesley (3-3-1) for its first victory.

Eric Strumsky and Soon-Jae Kloper each scored for Salisbury. Joe Herman had nine saves in the shutout.

Dickinson 4, W. Maryland 2

Midfielder Tyler Merrill had a goal and an assist in overtime to pace Dickinson (6-2, 2-0) past Western Maryland (1-4-1, 0-1-1) in a Centennial Conference game.

Penn State-York 4, Villa Julie 1

YORK, Pa. -- Matt Messick scored two of three first-half goals as Penn State-York defeated Villa Julie. Junior forward Jeff Woessner scored the only goal for Villa Julie on an assist from freshman forward David Fischer.

Catonsville 2, Mont.-Rock. 2

Freshman midfielder Mike Liggins and senior forward Chris Walton each scored a goal in Catonsville CC's double-overtime tie with visiting Montgomery-Rockville in a Maryland JuCo game.

Freshman Pete Meliotis made 11 saves for Catonsville (1-1-1, 1-0-1).
