LA PLATA -- A Charles County Circuit Court jury deliberated for four hours yesterday before convicting a 31-year-year old Aberdeen man of murdering an elderly deaf woman and her friend in the woman's northern Baltimore County home in May 1992.

Charles Henry Emanuel, formerly of the 300 block of Oak St., faces a death penalty hearing tomorrow. He was charged with stabbing and beating to death Margaret Attwell, 72, and stabbing to death Clara Vickers, 86, a friend visiting the Attwells.

Mrs. Attwell's deaf husband, James Attwell, 73, was also hurt, but could not positively identify the defendant.
