Woman, 31, killed crossing highway

A 31-year-old Glen Burnie woman was killed Sunday when she was hit by a car on Ritchie Highway near Aquahart Road, county police said yesterday.

Shelby Lynn Howard of the 500 block of Amberly Road was crossing Ritchie Highway at 8:36 p.m. in the southbound lane when she was hit by a car driven by Clarence Robert Divers, 61, of the 8200 block of Jumpers Hole Road in Millersville.

Ms. Howard, who was not walking in the crosswalk, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No charges were filed against Mr. Divers, and the case was forwarded to the state's attorney's office for review.
