Pugh's 127 yards, 2 touchdowns carry Salisbury to 33-19 victory

SALISBURY -- Sophomore running back Byron Pugh ran for 127 yards and senior wide receiver Charlie Whalen caught 10 passes for 132 yards yesterday as Salisbury State beat Methodist College, 33-19, for its first victory of the season.

Pugh scored two first-half touchdowns on runs of 1 and 17 yards.

Methodist (2-1) had 103 more yards of total offense than Salisbury State (1-1), but committed six turnovers. Methodist lost four of its nine fumbles, and quarterback Ben Pope threw two interceptions.
