Mediators in GENEVA asked Bosnia's three warring sides to meet in Sarajevo next week to sign a peace settlement, after Muslims and Serbs signed a cease-fire.

Battles intensified in central Bosnia, with Croatian forces attacking government-held areas in apparent retaliation for a government massacre of Croatian civilians at UZDOL earlier in the week.

A U.N. spokesman said Croatian forces were withdrawing from three villages near GOSPIC in southwestern Croatia, allowing 1,200 Canadian peacekeepers to move into the area.
