Escapee charged in break-in

A 22-year-old man who escaped from Springfield Hospital Center last October and allegedly entered a nearby house to get a change of clothing was charged in a warrant with the break-in yesterday.

Glenn Robert Hnot of Baltimore County is being held in the Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown on unrelated charges, according to police.

Mr. Hnot walked away from Springfield Oct. 27 wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweat shirt and white tennis shoes. Police say he walked to a house on Andylin Way, about two blocks from the hospital, and stole the clothing.

Court documents said Mr. Hnot broke into the house and stole clothing, a telephone, an answering machine and coins in a glass bank, that he placed in a plastic bag before leaving the house and asking a neighbor for a ride to Carrolltown Mall.

Mr. Hnot is charged with two counts of breaking and entering and one count each of theft and malicious destruction.

A detainer to prevent his release was placed against Mr. Hnot at the Hagerstown prison, police said.
